Reliance Jio to Launch Standalone 5G Technology

  • According to Jio, by Diwali, the plan will be first carried out in four metro cities and by December 2023 will expand to pan India.
  • There is a difference between a standalone 5G network and a non-standalone 5G network: The standalone 5G technology is based on an end-to-end core 5G network that is built from scratch while the non-standalone 5G architecture offers a 5G radio signal using the existing 4G LTE core. Hence, the efficacy of the standalone 5G technology is better than its counterpart.
  • Key differences between 5G Technology and 4G Technology:
    • A Peak Speed of 5G is 10 Gbps whereas it is 100 Mbps for 4G.
