- Kibithu is located on the banks of the Lohit river along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
- It is the easternmost part of the country, in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.
- The garrison and the 22 km-long road stretch from Walong to Kibithu, named after General Bipin Rawat was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu.
- Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Brigadier (retd.) BD Mishra, Eastern Army Commander, Lt. Gen. Rana Pratap Kalita, and Gen. Rawat's daughter were also present at the ceremony.
- Gen. Rawat, along with his wife, died in a chopper crash in December 2021 in Tamil Nadu. He was on his way from the Sulur IAF Station to the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington in Coonoor, when the helicopter, the IAF Mi-17V5 crashed.
