Bangladesh PM Visits India

Current Context: The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, completed her visit to India after meeting the President, Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President, Jagdeep Dhankar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

• During her visit, several Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were signed between India and Bangladesh:

1. MoU on withdrawal of Water by India and Bangladesh from Kushiyara river.
2. MoU on the training of Bangladesh Railway personnel in India.
3. MoU on Collaboration in IT systems for Bangladesh Railway.
4. MoU on Training and Capacity Building Program for Bangladesh Judicial Officers in India.
5. MoU on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between CSIR AND BCSIR.
6. MoU on Cooperation in the Areas of Space Technology.
7. MoU on Cooperation in Broadcasting.

• The unveiling of the 1320 (660x2) MW, Maitree Thermal Power Plant was done at Rampal, Khulna.
• The Inauguration of the 5.13 km long, Rupsha Rail Bridge was also done.
• Bangladesh PM, Hasina announced Mujib Scholarship to descendants of Indian soldiers killed and injured in the 1971 War, which resulted in the formation of Bangladesh as a nation. The Award is named after the founding father of Bangladesh, "Bangabandhu" Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
