- Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated the manufacturing plant at Chakan, Pune.
- The Company, in its statement, said that the LNG-fuelled trucks will be long-haul, heavy-duty trucks.
- Recently, Blue Energy Motors also signed an agreement with FPT Industrial.
- FTP Industrial will provide the engines generating high torque, which will make these trucks deliver the best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and will guarantee comfort and safety for the drivers for long hauls.
- At the inauguration ceremony, Union Minister Gadkari added that LNG is an economically viable and cost-effective fuel and it will reduce the overall logistical costs involved in transport.
- Liquified Natural Gas is a non-toxic, colorless gas that is formed when the natural gas is cooled to a negative of 162 deg Celcius. The cooling is done to shrink the gas nearly 600 times which makes it safer and easier to transport as in its liquified state, it doesn't ignite. The primary constituent of LNG is Methane with some mixture of Ethane.
