  • The Union Cabinet increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of the central government employees by 4%, beginning from July 1, 2022. It is expected to benefit over 69 lakh pensioners and 41 lakh central government employees.
  • In a two-day visit to Gujarat, PM Modi inaugurated projects worth Rs. 29,000 crores. It included the first CNG terminal in the world; Phase I of the Ahmedabad Metro; and Phase I of the Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City in Surat.
  • During its annual meeting, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) promised to devote a minimum of USD 14 billion through 2025 to help alleviate a worsening food crisis in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • The 8th World Green Economy Summit was inaugurated in Dubai by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The two-day event is being held at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

  • PM Modi inaugurated the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in the city of Ayodhya on her 93rd birth anniversary. The chowk will feature a “Veena” which is 40-ft-long, 12-meter-high, and weighs 14 tons.
  • The Chairperson of Reliance Jio, Akash Ambani, was named on Time Magazine's, “TIME 100 Next”. He was the only Indian who made it to the list.
  • Appointments:
    • The Government of India appointed Lt. Gen. Anil Chauhan (Retd.) as the new Chief of Defense Staff (CDS). He joined the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army in 1981 and retired as a General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command in 2021.
    • The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, appointed R Venkataramani as the new Attorney General of India. He will replace the current Attorney General KK Venugopal.
    • Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) was appointed as the Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia by the royal decree. MBS is the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Important Days:
    • Every year, September 29 is observed as the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste around the world. It is an initiative of the UNGA and is jointly supported by the UNEP and the Food and Nutrition Organization of the FAO. The theme of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste is, “Stop Food Loss and Waste, for the People, for the Planet”.
