Dr. Jitendra Singh Launches “Swachhta” Portal

Current Context: Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions of India, Dr. Jitendra Singh, launched the “Swachhta” portal dedicated to cleanliness and reducing the pendency of work in government offices.

  • The “Swachhta” portal has been developed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).
  • The portal was launched as part of the special Swachhata Campaign 2.0 which will begin on October 2.
  • All the central ministries, central departments, and all other attached and subordinate, and autonomous bodies of the Government of India (GOI) will take part in the Swachhta Campaign 2.0.
  • According to the Ministry, in 2021 during the first phase of the campaign, 6000 sites were covered for cleanliness purposes, which is likely to touch 100,000 in 2022.
  • At the inaugural event, Dr. Jitendra also said that the campaign this year reiterates the importance of timely disposal of work and a clean workspace and is expected to cover more than 1.5 lakh post offices, railway stations, overseas missions or posts, and other public offices.
