- As per the NSO, the Unemployment Rate in India for people in urban areas declined to 7.6% during Q1 FY23 from 12.6% a year ago.
- The unemployment rate among males in urban areas dipped to 7.1% in Q1 FY23 compared to 12.2% a year ago. Whereas for females has fallen to 9.5% compared to 14.3% last year.
- The Labour Force Participation Ratio (LFPR) in Current Weekly Status (CWS) also saw an improvement in urban areas, clocking 47.5% in Q1 FY23, from 46.8% in Q1 FY22.
- NSO is the statistical wing of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) and consists of the Central Statistical Office (CSO), and the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO).
