- To advise and suggest the required modifications for the India Semiconductor Mission, an Advisory Committee comprising experts from industry and academia was constituted.
- The following modifications were approved by the Cabinet:
- For all technology nodes, the Government of India (GoI) will provide financial support of 50% of Project Cost on a pari-passu basis (at the same rate) under Scheme for Setting up Semiconductor Fabs in India.
- Under the Scheme for Setting up Display Fabs, fiscal support of 50% of Project Cost on a pari-passu basis will be provided by the GoI.
- GoI will provide financial support of 50% of Capital Expenditure on a pari-passu basis under Scheme for Setting up of Semiconductor ATMP /OSAT /Compound Semiconductors /Sensors Fab, and Silicon Photonics facilities in India.
- The GoI also raised financial support for compound semiconductors from 30% to 50%, modifying the incentives to USD 10 billion (Rs. 76,000 crores).
- The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) in 2021 as a nodal agency for the development of the semiconductors and display manufacturing ecosystem in India.
