FSSAI, MYOS and NFSU sign MoU

Current Context: Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for setting up a testing facility for dietary supplements.
FSSAI, MYOS and NFSU sign MoU
  • It is one of the steps towards the goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
  • The facility will be set up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
  • The MoU was signed by the director of the department of sports, Vimal Anand, MYAS; Sweety Behra, Director of FSSAI; and C.D. Jadeja, the executive registration of NFSU.
  • This MoU will benefit the athletes and will educate them by spreading awareness about inadvertent doping due to prohibited substances.
  • It is an important step toward the implementation of the National Anti-Doping Act, of 2022.
  • Static- Nutritional substances which are consumed by athletes can contain unlabelled substances that are on the list of prohibited substances of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
