Current Context: India slips six places in the Global Hunger, Index to 107 out of 121 countries.

• In the 15th Global Hunger, Index India scores 29.1.
• Last year, India ranked 101 out of 116 countries.
• In Asia, Afghanistan is the only country below India at a rank of 109.
• It is jointly published by European NGOs Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe.
• South Asia is the region with the world’s highest hunger level.
• Static part- India’s initiative to eradicate hunger includes PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Eat right India Movement, and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
