Indian army signs MoU for salary of Agniveers

Current Context: Indian Army has signed MoU with 11 banks for providing salaries to Agniveers.

• These banks include the State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, etc.
• The features and benefits offered are similar to those of defence salary package.
• The MoUs are signed by DG, Lieutenant General V Sreehari, and senior officials of the respective banks.
• Besides banking facilities, soft loans will also be able to the existing Agniveers.
• These loans will help in augmenting their entrepreneurial skills.
• Static part- Agniveers scheme was launched in June 2022 and its first batch will be joining armed forces centers by January 2023.
