Nitin Gadkari launches Toyota’s Pilot Project

Current Context: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari has launched Toyota’s first-of-its-kind pilot project on Flex Fuel-Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (FFV-SHEV).

It can run on 100% ethanol.
In this launch, the Toyota Corolla Altis FFV-SHEV was imported from Toyota Brazil for a pilot project which was unveiled.
It will be able to run on fuel that has an ethanol composition of 20 to 100 percent.
FFV-SHEV has a flex-fuel engine along with an electric powertrain, which provides the double benefit of higher ethanol.
These kinds of cars will be able to run on fuels of different compositions also.
Currently, these kinds of vehicles are available in Brazil, the USA, and Canada.
Static part- In march this year, India’s first green hydrogen-based advanced fuel cell electric vehicle, Toyota Mirai was launched.
