NMCG Approves 14 Projects

Current Context: The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) recently approved 14 projects worth Rs. 1,145 crores.
NMCG Approves 14 Projects
  • The approval regarding these 14 projects was given at the 45th meeting of the Executive Committee under the Chairmanship of G Asok Kumar, Director General, NMCG.
  • The outline of the 14 projects will include steps regarding:
  1. curbing industrial pollution
  2. sewerage management
  3. biodiversity conservation
  • Among the projects, sewerage management in the five main Ganga basin states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jharkhand was approved.
  • The sewerage management projects in Uttar Pradesh include zero untreated discharge from three drains Samne Ghat, Assi, and Nakhha.
  • NMCG is the implementation arm of the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) and was established in 2011 under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The current Director General of NMCG is G Asok Kumar.
