PM declares Modhera as First 24*7 solar powered village

Current Context: PM Modi declares Modhera village as well as the Sun Temple of Modhera as the first village and heritage site in India.

• The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 3D projection Mapping of the sun temple.
• Both the village and the temple are solely powered by solar energy.
• It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2014.
• It is one of the four main sun temples of the nation.
• The prime minister also stated that instead of purchasing electricity, villagers can now sell the electricity produced.
• Static part- The temple was made in the year 1026 AD by Chalukya King Bhimdev.
