  • National News:
    • The Minister of State for the Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, unveiled India’s first national repository for life science data called the Indian Biological Data Centre (IBDC). The IBDC has been established at the Regional Centre of Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad.
    • The Union Minister for Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman, approved the first framework for the Sovereign Green Bonds in India. The framework is in line with the country’s commitments under “Panchamrit”.
    • The Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep S Puri, launched the Transport 4 All Challenge Stage-2, which aims at enhancing the mobility experience of citizens.
    • The 2nd edition of the Atal New India Challenge (ANIC) was launched by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog. Various women-centric challenges related to women’s hygiene, professional networking opportunities for women, innovations for assisting working mothers, etc. are launched under the program.

    • After the successful beta launch of its 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Varanasi, and Nathdwara, Reliance Jio extended its Jio True 5G services to Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
  • International News:
    • The Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, announced an investment of USD 2.5 billion in the Middle East Green Initiative with the aim of reducing carbon emissions by more than 60%.
    • The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a USD 4.5 billion assistance to Bangladesh in order to prevent an economic crisis amid rising instability. With this, Bangladesh will become the third South-Asian country, after Pakistan and Sri Lanka to secure a “staff-level agreement” with the IMF.
  • Important Days:
    • Every year November 11 is celebrated as National Education Day (NED) across India. This day marks the birth anniversary of the first Education Minister of independent India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The theme of NED-2022 is, “Changing Course, Transforming Education”.
    • Every year the second Thursday of November (10th November this year) is observed as World Usability Day (WUD) across the world. The theme of WUD-2022 is, “Our Health”.
  • Appointments:
    • Olympic Gold-medalist, Neeraj Chopra, was appointed as the “Friendship Ambassador” by Switzerland Tourism.
    • Indian Astrophysicist, Somak Raychaudhury, was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Ashoka University. Raychaudhary will succeed Malabika Sarkar.
  • Awards and Honors:
    • Kuldip Nayar Patrakarita Samman for 2022:
      • It is given annually by the Gandhi Peace Foundation since 2017.
      • For 2022, The Wire’s senior editor Arfa Khanum Sherwani will receive the award.
    • British F-1 Driver for Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton, was awarded Honorary Brazilian Citizenship at a ceremony in Brasilia, Brazil.
  • Sports:
    • ICC T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2022:
      • England beat India by 10 wickets in the Semi-Finals of the tournament.
      • Alex Hales was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant 86(47).
      • England will face Pakistan in the finals on 13th November.
    • Indian run-machine, Virat Kohli, became the first batsman ever in to reach 4000 runs in T20 Internationals. He achieved this feat in 107 innings with an impressive average of over 52.74.
