  • National News:
    • The Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, launched the biggest coal mine auction ever of 141 mines in line with the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.
    • The first voter of independent India, Shyam Saran Negi, cast his vote through postal ballot from his residence in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh.
    • According to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the Unemployment Rate rose to 7.77% in October 2022 from 6.43% in September 2022. Haryana with 31.8%, registered the highest Unemployment Rate while Madhya Pradesh with 0.8%, registered the lowest Unemployment Rate.
    • The three-day global investors’ meet, Invest Karnataka, was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi. The partner countries for the summit include France, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, and Australia.
    • The Mangarh Dham in Banswara, Rajasthan was declared a National Monument by PM Narendra Modi. The Maangarh Dham is an important site for the Bhil tribe.
    • Adani New Industries Ltd. constructed a 200-meter-long wind turbine in Mundra, Gujarat. It is the largest wind turbine generator in the country.

  • International News:
    • Former Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies sealed the win in the latest elections. Netanyahu’s Likud Party secured 32 seats and got the support of two ultra-Orthodox Jewish Parties (18 seats) and the Religious Zionism Party (14 seats), taking the alliance’s tally to 64 in Israel’s 120-seat parliament.
    • India abstained on a draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) that was sponsored by Russia for a probe into Ukraine’s alleged bioweapons.
    • Days after withdrawing, Russia re-joined the Black Sea Grain Deal. The Black Sea Grain Deal is a United Nations-brokered deal that was signed between the UN, Russia, Ukraine and Turkiye to provide a safe passage for the transportation of food and grains during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
  • Appointments:
    • Vishal Kapoor was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).
    • Subhrakant Panda was appointed as the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). Panda will succeed Sanjiv Mehta.
  • Awards and Honors:
    • The Padma Shree awardee Carnatic vocalist, Aruna Sairam, was honoured with the prestigious Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite by the French government.
  • Obituary:
    • Eminent Editor and Journalist, Goverdhana Sundara Varadachari, passed away at the age of 90.
  • Sports:
    • The Track Asia Cup 2022 Cycling Tournament will be hosted by Kerala from November 25- November 28 2022. The events will be at LNCPE Outdoor Velodrome, Thiruvananthapuram.
