  • National News:
    • In a 3:2 verdict, the Supreme Court of India held the constitutional validity of the 10% reservation for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in government jobs and colleges across India. The assenting judgments were given by Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Justice Bela M Trivedi, and Justice J B Pardiwala while the dissenting judgments were given by CJI UU Lalit and Justice Ravindra Bhat.
    • Russia surpassed Saudi Arabia and Iraq to become the top supplier of crude oil to India in October 2022. Presently, Russia accounts for around 22% of the crude oil imports of India.
    • The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, will attend the ASEAN- India Commemorative Summit that will be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 11th-13th November 2022.
    • In a deal of around EUR 500 million (Rs 4,060 crores), Reliance Industries will acquire German retailer METRO Cash & AG's Carry business in India.
    • The Uttar Pradesh government announced that government will aim to make Mathura-Vrindavan, a “net zero carbon emission” tourist destination by 2041.

    • Every year November 08 is observed as World Radiography Day across the world. It is observed to pay respect to the discovery of X-rays by Wilhelm Rontgen. It is a joint initiative of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR).

    • KG Ananthakrishnan was appointed as the Non-Official Director & the Non-Executive Chairman of Punjab National Bank for three years.

    • Retired Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Rituraj Awasthi was appointed as the Chairperson of the Law Commission of India.

    • The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards (NFNA) for the year 2021 to 51 nursing professionals, including ANMs, Lady Health Visitors, and Nurses across India.

    • The Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajiv Chandrashekhar, released two books: “Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery” and “Heartfelt: The Legacy of Faith”, on the achievements and legacy of PM Narendra Modi.
