  • On the anniversary of the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birth, which was marked nationwide as "Good Governance Day," the International Space Registry dedicated a star in his honor. The star is 392.01 lightyears away from Earth. It is the star that is nearest to the Sun. The star gets the name Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji.
  • MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, issued an order requiring all ration card holders in the state to receive Rs. 1000 in cash in time for Thai Pongal in 2023.
  • The Ministry of Home Affairs has granted the Uttar Pradesh government "no objection" certificates allowing it to rename two areas in the state. With this approval, the municipal council for Mundra Bazaar in the Gorakhpur district has been renamed "Chauri Chaura," while the village of Telia Afghan in the Deoria district has been renamed "Telia Shukla."

  • In Rajasthan, Indian Bank has introduced its premier business mentoring program for MSME entrepreneurs, known as "MSME Prerana." Through skill development and capacity-building training in their native tongues, it aims to empower MSME entrepreneurs.
  • By March 2023, the State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank will begin offering RuPay credit cards via UPI. Union Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Indian Bank, and HDFC Bank are the banks that currently provide the RuPay credit card on the UPI platform. In June 2022, the RBI authorized the integration of credit cards with UPI.

    • An unusual and potentially deadly brain-eating amoeba has been found for the first time ever in South Korea. The amoeba naegleria fowleri, which is typically found in warm freshwater and soil, is the source of the uncommon and deadly infection known as primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM).
    • On December 22, 2022, India and Bangladesh decided to quickly begin the free trade agreement negotiating process in order to increase bilateral trade and investments. The decision was made during a meeting between Bangladesh's Tipu Munshi and India's Piyush Goyal, the minister of commerce and industry.
    • The governments of Russia and Sri Lanka have declared that they will conduct the majority of their international trade in the Indian Rupee. This was reached a short time after the Indian government stated that it was looking into a number of options for bringing other nations that were short on dollars into the scope of the Indian trade settlement system.

    • On December 27, 2022, Hasmukh Adhia, former financial secretary for the Government of India, and SS Rathore, a senior retired bureaucrat, were named as the chief advisor and advisor, respectively, to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
