Pralay Ballistic Missiles to be purchased by the military, according to the MoD

Current Context: During a high-level conference, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) approved the purchase of 120 Pralay ballistic missiles for the armed services. These are new-generation quasi-ballistic surface-to-surface missiles that were created indigenously.

• These missiles would be assigned to the Air Force and the Navy and most likely stationed near India's border regions with Pakistan and China.
• It was developed by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). It is able to reach targets up to 500 kilometers away and can hit them with an accuracy of 10 meters (within 10 meters of the target).
• It is capable of transporting 350–700 kg of high-grade explosives, Penetration–Cum–Blast explosives, and Runway Denial Penetration Submunition. The missile contains an infrared or thermal scanner and travels at a speed of about 2,000 kilometers per hour. It can be employed at night to assault the targets of the enemy.
• Pralay is propelled by a solid-propellant rocket motor, a missile guidance system with integrated avionics, and cutting-edge navigation technology.
