  • Bahadur Chand Investments, situated in Delhi, was fined 30 lahks by the RBI. The fine has been imposed for failure to comply with the "Core Investment Companies (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2016" and the "Information Technology Framework for the NBFC Sector" directives.
  • The Mentorship, Advisory, Assistance, Resilience, and Growth (MAARG) platform was introduced by Piyush Goyal, minister of commerce and industry. Through the platform, mentorship programs for startups and business owners in all phases and functions will be made possible.
  • Shubhra Gupta, a well-known author and film critic, has released a new book titled "Irrfan Khan: A Life in Movies."

  • Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) show that retail inflation fell to a one-year low of 5.72% in December 2022.
  • A contract was struck by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and H2Carrier (H2C), a Norwegian company, to develop floating green ammonia projects for large-scale industrial uses. According to the MoU, L&T and H2C will collaborate to design, procure, build, install, and commission (EPCIC) the topsides for H2C's floating process plants.
  • The fifth and last fast-patrol vessel (FPV) of the series, the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) "Kamla Devi," was launched in Kolkata, West Bengal. In a public-private partnership (PPP) with Titagarh Wagons Limited, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), of Kolkata, built the ship from scratch (TWL)

This working group will first concentrate on challenges relating to sustainable finance, trade facilitation, digitization of customs procedures, and the expansion of cutting-edge clean technology.
    • According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Uganda successfully declared the end of the Ebola outbreak brought on by the Sudan ebolavirus.
    • European leaders and King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden officially opened the EU's first mainland orbital launch complex.
    • In its World Social Report 2023, the United Nations (UN) predicted that by the year 2050, there will be 1.6 billion individuals worldwide who are 65 years of age or older, more than doubling from the 761 million estimated in 2021.

    • On January 14, 2023, while participating in the "Bharat Jodo Yatra" at Phillaur, Punjab, Congress MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh passed away after a heart attack. He was an Indian politician from Jalandhar who served as a Cabinet Minister for Punjab (Lok Sabha constituency).
    • In Gurugram, Haryana, Sharad Yadav, a former Union minister and one of the country's most well-known socialist figures, passed suddenly. On July 1st, 1947, he was born in Babai, Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh.
