  • On the outskirts of Rajkot, Gujarat, a check dam is being constructed for Rs. 15 lakhs. Hiraben as Hiraba Smriti Sarovar is how the dam was given its name in honor of PM Modi's mother.
  • The Non-Resident Indian Day, popularly referred to as the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, is observed annually on January 9. The 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention was organized in partnership with the Madhya Pradesh Government from 08-10 January 2023 in Indore. There are currently 212 indigenous breeds in India.

  • By December 2023, Indian Railways expects to have the nation's first hydrogen-powered trains, known as "Vande Metro trains," operating on its small gauge heritage lines. It will be tested on the Haryana section between Sonipat and Jind.
