  • From Satish Dhawan Orbit Center, the Indian Space Research Organization launched "SSLV-D2," its smallest rocket, into space (Sriharikota). ISRO's EOS-07, US-based Antaris' Janus-1, and Chennai-based SpaceKidz's AzaadiSAT 2 are the three satellites that SSLV-D2 has launched.

  • On February 8, 2023, Chief Minister M. K. It is evidence of the project's success that 1.56 lakh female students have benefited from it, including 44,880 from SC communities and 1,900 from Scheduled Tribes.

  • The Bank of India Multi Size Fund was introduced by Bank of India (BoI) Investment Managers Private Limited (Investment Manager for Bank of India Mutual Fund) to allow investors to diversify their portfolios among large, mid, and small-cap market cap categories.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE), the Government of Karnataka, and Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR), a division of Samsung Electronics, to establish industrial internet of things (IoT) labs (IoT Innovation Labs) for artificial intelligence (AI) in 35 Government Polytechnics throughout Karnataka.
  • A block transaction involving One97 Communications Ltd. (OCL), the parent company of Paytm, saw Alibaba Group Holding Limited (Alibaba), a Chinese multinational technology corporation owned by Jack Ma, sell its whole ownership of 3.16% equity (2.1 lakh shares) for over Rs 13,600 crore.

    • During his annual State of the Nation address in Cape Town, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa recently proclaimed a "state of disaster" because of the nation's electricity shortage.
    • Veteran astronaut Joe Acaba has been chosen by NASA to lead the Astronaut Office.
    • A fighter jet storage facility that can house long-range cruise missile-equipped fighter jets has been presented by Iran. The base, known as Oghab 44 (which means "Eagle" in Persian), has space for "all types of fighter jets and bombers, as well as drones."

    • The Maharashtra government declared on February 8, 2023, that social worker Dattatreya alias Appasaheb Dharmadhikari will get the "Maharashtra Bhushan" award year 2022.
    • In Yamoussoukro, the capital of the Ivory Coast, former German chancellor Angela Merkel was presented with the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Unesco Peace Prize in recognition of her decision to accept more than 1.2 million migrants as refugees in Germany despite opposition from within Germany and throughout Europe.

    • On February 11, all over the world celebrates International Day of Women and Girls in Science. "Innovate, Demonstrate, Elevate, Advance, Sustain: Bringing Everyone Forward for Sustainable and Equitable Development" is the theme for 2023.
    • Every year on February 11, the world celebrates "Hakim Ajmal Khan's" (a renowned Indian Unani physician) birth anniversary. At the Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine (CRIUM), Hyderabad, the first Unani Day was observed in 2017. The major goal is to increase public awareness of and action on the Unani system of medicine's preventive and curative philosophy of healthcare delivery.
    • The goal of the annual National Deworming Day (NDD), which is observed on February 10 in all Indian states and union territories (UTs) with a mop-up day on February 15, is to eradicate intestinal worms, also known as Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH), among children aged 1 to 19 years. The National Deworming Day (NDD) is held twice a year on the 10th of February and the 10th of August.
  • Appointment:
    • Justices Rajesh Bindal and Aravind Kumar have been appointed to the Supreme Court with approval from the government. With this, the Supreme Court is back to having 34 judges on it. Rajesh Bindal: He presided over the Allahabad High Court as chief justice. Aravind Kumar: He served as the Gujarat High Court's Chief Justice.
    • For a period of five years or until further orders, Kuldeep Arya has been appointed to the position of director in the Union department of rural development.
    • Meenakshi Nevatia has been appointed as the managing director (MD) and additional director of Pfizer Ltd. for a period of five years beginning on April 3, 2023 by Pfizer Limited (Pfizer India), the commercial arm of Pfizer Inc. in India. On March 31, 2023, Meenakshi Nevatia will succeed S Sridhar, who is resigning as managing director and member of the board.
  • Obituary:-
    • Burt Bacharach, an American composer who won three Oscars in 1982 and 1970 (twice), as well as eight Grammys, passed away in Los Angeles, California, USA, on February 8, 2023, at the age of 94. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 12, 1928.
