Tokamak Energy of the UK declared that it had constructed a set of brand-new high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets, a first for the world, that would be put together and tested in conditions that would be relevant to fusion power plants.
    • In the first assessment of global minorities by the Centre for Policy Analysis (CPA) in its "Global Minority Report," India ranked first out of 110 countries for its inclusive policies towards religious minorities. The acceptance of religious minorities is strongest in India.
  • Obituary:
    • K.V. Tirumalesh, a renowned Kannada author and recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award, went away in Hyderabad, Telangana, at the age of 82. He was born in 1940 in the Kasargod district of Kerala's Karadka village, under the Madras Presidency of British India.
