Current Context: The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reports that 29 out of 30 chief ministers (97%) are Millionaires, with an average asset of Rs 34 crore for each chief minister.

• The report by ADR was based on an analysis of the election affidavits of chief ministers from 28 states and two union territories. It found that five of the top 10 chief ministers were from north-eastern states.
