  • The book titled “War and Women” written by Dr. MA Hasan was released on April 02, 2023.
  • PM Modi flagged off Vande Bharat Express between Bhopal and New Delhi.
  • The union minister of commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal announced the Foreign Trade Policy 2023 on March 31, 2023 which will come into effect from April 1, 2023.
  • Indian Railways completes 100% electrification of the rail network in Haryana.
  • Banking:
    • India's 3rd largest private sector lender Axis Bank has launched ‘Micropay’, the country’s first pocket-sized swipe machine, for accepting digital payments.
    • Aditya Birla Health Insurance Company Limited has entered into a partnership with UCO Bank to distribute health insurance products through the bank’s branches across India.
    • The Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank has approved a USD 100 million loan to Odisha. To robust its early forecasting systems for improved response to disasters and enhance its social protection coverage for poor and vulnerable households through digital platforms. Odisha is vulnerable to natural disasters with cyclones hitting the state every 15 months on average.  
  • Important day:
    • World Autism Day was observed on April 02. It was very first observed in the year 2008. This year the theme for World Autism Awareness Day 2023 is "Transforming the narrative: Contributions at home, at work, in the arts and in policymaking."
    • International Drug Checking Day is observed every year on 31 March. To promote harm reduction initiatives to reduce the risks associated with drug use and educate people about drugs and their effects.
      • According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 11.8 million deaths were linked to drug abuse in 2017, and more and more teenagers are falling prey to substance abuse. The International Day of Drug Checking is an effort to collectively reduce drug abuse and create a drug-free world.
  • Appointment:
    • UK Sinha has been appointed as the independent director of NDTV.
    • Amit Kshatriya was appointed as the first chief of NASA’s ‘Moon to Mars Program’.
    • Tata Power has re-appointed Praveer Sinha as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director. His present tenure as a CEO and MD is scheduled to conclude on April 30, 2023. He is also serving as the Chairman of the CII Western Region Council and co-chairs the CII National Committee on Power. He has also contributed to setting up the first international incubator in India for promoting innovations in the clean energy space.
    • India’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp Ltd has announced that its board has appointed Niranjan Gupta as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, effective from 1 May 2023. Niranjan Gupta is currently the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Head of Strategy and M&A. Pawan Munjal will continue as Executive Chairman and Whole-time Director on the board. The board of Hero Moto corp has appointed Niranjan Gupta as the new CEO with effect from May 1, 2023.
