Current Context: The 36th edition of Asian Wrestling Championship took place from 9 to 14 April 2023 in Astana, Kazakhstan. The event was earlier scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India.

  • A total of 331 wrestlers from 22 countries competed in the championship, including 30 wrestlers from India.
  • The Indian wrestlers have won a total of 14 medals, consisting of one gold, three silver and 10 bronze medals, securing the 7th position in the overall medal table.
  • Among the participating countries, Kazakhstan, Japan, and Iran topped the medal table based on their number of gold medals.
  • The 2022 Asian Wrestling Championships was the 35th edition of the Asian Wrestling Championships combined events, and took place from 19 April to 24 April in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
