    • Indian peacekeepers were honored posthumously with the prestigious Dag Hammarskj√∂ld Medal by the United Nations for their service and supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The three Indians include Border Security Force personnel Head Constables Shishupal Singh and Sanwala Ram Vishnoi, who served with the Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Shaber Taher Ali, employed in a civilian capacity with the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq
    • In another milestone for India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, a MiG-29K fighter undertook night landing on her sprawling deck in the Arabian Sea. The Indian Navy has claimed that this is an important step towards the Indian government’s goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’
    • The Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) has achieved another milestone as it has got the organic certification for coffee and black pepper from the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)
    • Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of Guwahati campus of National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in Assam.     • Nepal is likely to sign an energy deal during Prime Minister Prachanda’s visit to Delhi and the two sides would conclude at least six agreements during the exchanges here. The agreements might include those on water and agriculture cooperation

    • The market regulator SEBI will soon introduce a new light-touch regulatory framework for passively managed mutual funds like exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and index funds. These funds have seen a sharp pick-up in assets under management in recent years
    • India has moved the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) apex dispute resolution body, the Appellate Body, against a WTO panel ruling that said its import duties on some information and technology products are inconsistent with global trade norms
  • World:
    • Saudi Arabia and Canada have reached an agreement to restore full diplomatic ties and appoint new ambassadors, bringing an end to a dispute from 2018. The decision was made following discussions between Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Bangkok in November of the previous year
    • 5,000 new species living in deep-sea habitats in the Pacific Ocean in a region known as the Clarion-Clipperton Zone (CCZ). The zone extends roughly 6 million sq km between Hawaii and Mexico.

    • P.V Sindhu won her quarter-final tie against Zhang Yi Man of China 21-16, 13-21, 22-20 and advanced to the semifinals where she faced Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of IndonesiaH.S. Prannoy also advanced to the semifinals
    • Gujarat Titans will take on Chennai Super Kings in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on May 29th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match was originally scheduled for May 28th but was moved to the reserve day due to rain

    • The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed November 26 as World Sustainable Transport Day. This proclamation stems from the inaugural Global Conference on Sustainable Transport held in Ashgabat on November 26, 2016
    • World Schizophrenia Awareness Day is commemorated every May 24. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness of the mental illness that affects over 20 million people worldwide.

    • The Mangaluru-headquartered private sector Karnataka Bank has appointed Srikrishnan Harihara Sarma as the new managing director and CEO of the Bank. The appointment is effective from the date of his assuming charge and will last for a period of three years
