Goa and Uttarakhand signed MoU

Current Context: Goa and Uttarakhand have signed a MoU to boost tourism between the states as part of the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative. The MoU was signed in Dehradun on May 24, 2023 in the presence of Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

  • The MoU aims to promote bilateral cooperation in the travel and tourism sector and facilitate travel between the states to increase the number of tourists visiting Goa and Uttarakhand respectively.
  • The MoU will also help in connecting “The Arabian Sea with river Ganga”, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of India, and offering various tourism products, including adventure tourism activities, ecotourism, spiritual tourism, and wellness tourism
  • Direct flight connectivity between Uttarakhand and Goa, which reduces the travel time from 7 hours to 2.5 hours, making it easier for tourists to travel between the two states.
