Current Context: The Tamil Nadu government has signed six memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Japanese companies towards an investment of around Rs 818.9 crores in the State.

  • The MoUs were signed by Guidance Tamil Nadu, which is the state’s nodal agency for investment promotion, in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who is in Tokyo, as part of a one-week visit to Singapore and Japan.
  • The MoUs cover various sectors such as manufacturing, construction, civil engineering and steel production
  • These Mou’s will attract more foreign direct investment and technology transfer from Japan, which is one of the leading investors in Tamil Nadu.
