Current Context: It is about a new initiative by Tide, a UK-based fintech company, and Transcorp International Limited, an RBI-regulated PPI license holder, to launch India’s first recycled PVC (rPVC) Rupay card.

  • This card is made from 99% recycled plastic and will save on carbon emissions and plastic waste.
  • The card is also certified by global testing agencies and compliant with ISO standards. The move is part of Tide’s commitment to becoming a more sustainable company and reaching Net Zero by 2030
  • To get an rPVC Rupay card, you need to apply online or offline through one of the banks that offer this card. Some of the banks that offer rPVC Rupay cards are Tide and Transcorp International Limited.
