  • National:
    • Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has published IS 18267: 2023 “Food Serving Utensils Made from Agri By-Products – Specification,” aimed at reducing plastic pollution and promoting sustainability.
    • Government of India has introduced two changes to the prevailing power tariff system, through an amendment to the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020.

    • According to Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2023, released on 22nd June 2023, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru (Karnataka) has emerged as the highest ranked Indian Institute.
    • The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has approved the 6G vision framework at its meeting held in Geneva from June 12 to June 22. The sixth-generation or 6G technology has been named “IMT-2030” by the telecoms agency of the United Nations (UN).
    • SEBI has recently released a circular outlining a standardized approach to valuation of investment portfolio of Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs).
    • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $295 million loan to upgrade around 265 kilometers of state highways, improving transport connectivity and safety in the state of Bihar, India.
    • The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and shopping app Meesho have been featured on Time’s list of 100 most influential companies 20231. Additionally, Polygon Labs, originally founded as Matic Network by four Indians, also found its mention in the list.
    • The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, was presented with the Olympic Order by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach at the Olympic House in Lausanne, Switzerland.
    • Skyroot Aerospace successfully conducted the flight qualification test of the Raman-I engine, which will be used for roll attitude control in the company’s under-development Vikram-I rocket.
