    • According to a report by ICRA, bond issuances by banks may fall below Rs 90,000 crore in FY24 due to easing liquidity conditions. Banks issued a record Rs 1.1 trillion bonds in FY23
    • The Tata Group has retained its title of India’s most valuable brand at $26.4 billion in 2023, growing at 10.3% over last year, said brand valuation firm Brand Finance in its latest ranking of the country’s leading brands
    • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of an additional 4.04% shareholding of Acko Technology and Services Private Limited (Acko Tech) by General Atlantic Singapore ACK Pte. Ltd. (GASACK)

    • Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das recently announced that cooperative lenders will soon be able to do technical write-offs and execute compromise settlements with defaulting borrowers

  • Obituary:
    • Gitanjali Aiyar, one of the first English news anchors on the national broadcaster Doordarshan, passed away on June 7th. She was suffering from Parkinson’s disease. She was a veteran journalist who worked as a news anchor for more than 30 years and was awarded the best anchor four times
  • Awards:
    • Jagdish Bakan, Wildlife Warden and District Forest Officer (DFO) of Ramanathapuram district, has won the 2023 Michel Batisse Award for Biosphere Reserve Management from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco)
    • Joyeeta Gupta, professor of environment and development of the global south at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), has been awarded the NWO Spinoza Prize for her research on distributional issues resulting from the climate crisis
    • Paterson Joseph has won the 2023 RSL Christopher Bland Prize for his debut novel The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho. Paterson Joseph is also the Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University
