Current Context: SchemeShakti is a free travel scheme for women and transgenders in Karnataka, launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on June 11, 2023. 

• The scheme allows women and transgenders to travel for free in government buses within the state.
• The scheme is expected to benefit more than 41.8 lakh women passengers every day and cost the state exchequer an estimated Rs 4,051.56 crore annually.
