UP Govt launched “Nand Baba Milk Mission” Scheme & Family ID Portal

Current Context: Nand Baba Milk Mission Scheme. It is a scheme launched by the Uttar Pradesh government on June 6, 2023 to boost the dairy sector and provide remunerative prices to the milk producers. 

• Under this scheme, the government plans to set up five Dairy Farmer Producer Organisation (Dairy FPO) in five districts of the state as a pilot project, in which women will also play a major role.
• The scheme has a budget of Rs 1,000 crore. The scheme also aims to facilitate sale of milk at a reasonable price in villages through dairy co-operative societies.
• The scheme has been named after Nand Baba, who was the foster father of Lord Krishna and a symbol of cow protection.
