3rd G-20 Culture Working Group Meeting under India’s Presidency

Current Context: The 3rd G-20 Culture Working Group meeting under India’s presidency is being held at Hampi in Karnataka from 9th to 12th July 2023. The meeting is attended by delegates from G-20 members, guest nations, and several international organizations.

• The meeting aims to achieve a consensus on the recommendations and best practices pertaining to the four priorities of the Culture Working Group, which are:
• Protection and Restitution of Cultural Property
• Harnessing Living Heritage for a Sustainable Future
• Promotion of Cultural and Creative Industries and Creative Economy
• Leveraging Digital Technologies for the Protection and Promotion of Culture
• The meeting will also prepare for the upcoming G-20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Varanasi, scheduled to be organised on August 26, 2023.
• The delegates also got to experience the rich cultural heritage of Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, through various activities such as yoga, tree plantation, percussion recital, and guided tours of the historic monuments.
