Adani Group Commissioned India’s First Transnational Power Project

Current Context: Adani Group has commissioned India’s first transnational power project to supply electricity to Bangladesh from its Ultra Super-Critical Thermal Power Plant (USCTPP) in Godda, Jharkhand.

• The project has a capacity of 1600 MW and will supply 1496 MW to Bangladesh under a 25-year power purchase agreement. 
• The project was completed in a record time of three-and-a-half years despite the challenges posed by the COVID pandemic.
• Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka on Saturday to mark the full load commencement of the power supply.
• This is a landmark achievement for both India and Bangladesh in terms of energy cooperation and development.
