  • National:

    • The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) launched the Action Taken Report (ATR) Module of AuditOnline through video conferencing on 12th July 2023. The ATR module aims to provide a more structured approach to the audit process, ensuring clarity on the actions taken in response to audit findings.
    • According to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), microplastics and nanoplastics considerably impact human and animal gut microbiomes as well as the environment.
    • According to a new report released by UNAIDS, there is a clear path that ends AIDS by 2030. This path will also help prepare for and tackle future pandemics and advance progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
    • INS Sunayna was at Seychelles from 10-12 July 2023 to participate in Operation Southern Readiness 2023 conducted by Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).
    • PayU, AWS India and Chiratae Ventures have collaborated to launch a Fintech accelerator for early-stage Indian start-ups called inFINity.
    • The Goa government has signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen MSMEs in the state and enable digital payments in government departments.
    • The government of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) established the Department of Public Grievances as a separate administrative department in the Union Territory.
    • On Day 1 of his visit to France, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the country’s highest honour, the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, by French President Emmanuel Macron.
    • India has emphasized the importance of responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology at the ongoing G-20 meeting in Bali. Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s Minister of Electronics and Information Technology highlighted the transformative potential of AI while urging measures to ensure its responsible deployment.
    • According to the NASA database on Moon missions, of the 111 lunar missions over the past seven decades, 62 were successful, 41 failed, and eight had some degree of success.

    • India’s Tajinderpal Singh Toor retained his Asian shot put gold despite a groin injury, while Parul Chaudhary and Shaili Singh won gold and silver respectively in the women’s 3000m steeple chase and long jump.
    • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the captain of the Indian men’s cricket team for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
  • Banking:
    • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has mandated that all entities providing ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) rating services to Indian entities to get a certification from it within 6 months w.e.f. July 3, 2023.
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the licences of two cooperative banks- Sri Sharada Mahila Co-operative Bank, Tumkur, situated in Karnataka, and Harihareshwar Sahakari Bank, Wai, Satara in Maharashtra, because of inadequate capital and no earning prospect.
    • Fincare Small Finance Bank has launched its multilingual campaign ‘The Great Indian FD Fest’ featuring brand ambassador Viswanathan Anand. The primary objective of the campaign is to raise awareness about the bank’s interest rate offering for all categories of customers.
