Department of Fisheries launched the Fisheries Startup Grand Challenge

Current Context: Fisheries Startup Grand Challenge. It is an initiative by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying in association with Startup India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry to provide a platform to startups within the country to showcase their innovative solutions within the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector.

• The challenge aims to resolve issues across the fisheries value chain for increasing aquaculture productivity, doubling exports earnings and reducing post-harvest losses.
• The challenge has earmarked funds to the tune of Rs. 3.44 Crore for the winners. The challenge was launched in January 2022 and the last date to apply was February 26, 2022. Recently, 12 startups were selected under the challenge
• The Fisheries Startup Grand Challenge is a part of the government’s efforts to boost the fisheries sector, which plays a vital role in economic and overall development of the country.
