National Water Mission Signs MoU with Indian Plumbing Association

Current Context: National Water Mission (NWM) of the Ministry of Jal Shakti has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) to enhance water use efficiency and achieve a water-positive India.

• The MoU was signed by Ms. Archana Varma, Additional Secretary & Mission Director of the NWM, and Shri Gurmit Singh Arora, National President of the IPA.
• The MoU aims to raise awareness and promote various water conservation measures, such as rainwater harvesting structures, low-flow fixtures and sanitary ware, grey and black water treatment, as well as water audits of built environments.
• The MoU also aligns with the Goal-4 of the NWM, which aims to increase the water use efficiency by 20%.
• This collaboration is a significant milestone for the Bureau of Water Use Efficiency, as it aligns with the IPA’s ongoing efforts to advocate for water-sensitive fixtures that consume less water.
