Current Context: Walmart and Flipkart have signed a MoU with the Telangana government to support MSMEs in the state. This is a part of the Walmart Vriddhi Supplier Development Program, which aims to help small businesses and entrepreneurs grow and access wider domestic and online markets.

  • According to the MoU, Walmart will provide guidance and training to the MSMEs to help them digitise their businesses and leverage online retail platforms. This will enable them to reach more customers and increase their sales and profits.
  • The MoU was signed on July 27, 2023, in the presence of Jayesh Ranjan, the Principal Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department of Telangana, and Joseph Julian KG, the Program Director of Swasti, a non-governmental organization that partners with Walmart Vriddhi.
