  • The Radio Frequency (RF) Seeker is a critical and technology intensive subsystem used in Surface-to-Air Missiles and Air-to-Air Missiles for target tracking in the terminal phase.
  • The RF Seeker has been designed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat, and produced by BDL at its state-of-the-art Seeker Facility Centre set up at BDL, Kanchanbagh Unit in Hyderabad.
  • The RF Seeker can successfully make the new generation surface-to-air missiles, Akash NG, lock onto any enemy aircraft till it is destroyed.
  • The RF Seeker imparts an improved accuracy while intercepting targets in various conditions, including under a low-temperature environment in high altitude operational areas such as the northern and northeastern frontiers.
  • The BDL handed over the first RF Seeker produced at its facility to the DRDO on August 2, 2023, at a special ceremony conducted at BDL’s Kanchanbagh Unit.
