• The Indian government has introduced a new Ayush visa category for foreign nationals seeking treatment under Indian systems of medicine, including Ayurveda, wellness, and Yoga.

• The Ministry of Finance has launched the Vivad Se Vishwas-2 Scheme to settle contractual disputes. The scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2023-24 and aims to settle government and government undertakings’ contractual disputes wherein arbitral awards are challenged in courts.
• President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the ‘Unmesha’ – International Literature Festival and ‘Utkarsh’ – Festival of Folk and Tribal Performing Arts on August 3, 2023, at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
• Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar jointly launched the Study in India (SII) Portal in New Delhi on August 3, 2023.

• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has given another one-year extension in service to Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba1. This is the third extension on his post, making him the longest-serving Cabinet Secretary in the country.
• NHPC Limited and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 1st, 2023, under which NHPC will provide CSR support for the distribution of aids and assistive devices to around 1,000 Divyangjans (Persons with Disabilities) in the vicinity of NHPC Projects located in North and North Eastern states.

(IREDA) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 1, 2023, to initiate the technical assessment of the AIIMS New Delhi campus for converting it into one which is powered by solar energy.
• on Thursday, August 3, 2023, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched the Intelsat Galaxy G-37/Horizons-4 telecommunications satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO)1. The Maxar-manufactured satellite launched aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida at 1:00 a.m. EDT.

• Obituary:
• The renowned Marathi poet and lyricist Namdeo Dhondo Mahanor, popularly known as Na Dho Mahanor, passed away at the age of 81 on August 3, 2023. He was a nature poet, lyricist, farmer and also a nominated member of Maharashtra Legislative Council.
• Banking:
• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of The Navanirman Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd with Rajadhani Co-op. Urban Bank Ltd. Both urban co-operative banks are Hyderabad-based.
• The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has partnered with the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE.CO), Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, Gujarat (IIM-A)’s startup incubator and investor, to set up a SIDBI Accelerator Fund, at IIMA’s CIIE.CO.
• Sports:
• Olympic badminton champion Viktor Axelsen added the Japan Open 2023 title to his haul, beating Indonesian star Jonatan Christie in the men’s singles final on Sunday (30 July). World number one Axelsen of Denmark - who recently retained his European title in Poland - won in straight games, 21-7, 21-18.
• The Indian men’s hockey team beat the People’s Republic of China 7-2 in its opening match of the Asian Champions Trophy 2023 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.
