Current Context: India and Trinidad and Tobago have recently signed an MoU to share the India Stackon August 17, 2023, a set of open APIs and digital public goods that aim to facilitate identity, data, and payment services on a large scale.
India and Trinidad and Tobago have signed a Memorandum of Understanding
  • This is part of India’s digital public goods diplomacy, which seeks to offer India Stack to countries that can benefit from its proven solutions for digital transformation.
  • India Stack includes components such as Aadhaar, UPI, eKYC, eSign, DigiLocker, and more. These components enable presence-less, paperless, and cashless service delivery for citizens and businesses.
  • India Stack has been adopted by several other countries, such as Armenia, Sierra Leone, Suriname, Antigua & Barbuda, and Papua New Guinea.
  • Some countries like Mauritius and Saudi Arabia have also shown interest and are at an advanced stage of finalizing cooperation on India Stack.
  • France, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Sri Lanka have separately agreed to accept payments made with UPI. India Stack is the largest open API in the world and has helped India achieve remarkable progress in financial and social inclusion.
