Current Context: MoU between India and New Zealand on civil aviation was signed on August 29, 2023 by Rajiv Bansal, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation of India and David Pine, the New Zealand High Commissioner.

  • The MoU aims to boost cooperation in civil aviation, covering the scheduling of new routes, code share services, traffic rights and capacity entitlement.
  • The MoU also allows the designated airlines of both countries to operate any number of all-cargo services with any type of aircraft with third, fourth and fifth freedom traffic rights to/from any points in the territory of the other party.
  • The MoU is expected to further boost the bilateral ties in civil aviation between India and New Zealand.
