- UNDP stands for United Nations Development Programme, which is the UN’s global development network that works in 170 countries and territories to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and build resilience to crises and shocks.
- The main objective of the MoU is to fast-track the progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the northeastern region by providing technical support, monitoring, evaluation and capacity building to MDoNER .
- The SDGs are a set of 17 goals and 169 targets adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015 to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030.
- The MoU is expected to foster peer learning, enable SDG monitoring at the sub-national level and ensure that no one is left behind in the development process.
