2nd edition of Indian Navy’s NIIO Seminar

Current Context: Swavlamban 2023 is the second edition of the Indian Navy’s Naval Innovation and Indigenisation (NIIO) Seminar, which aims to showcase the indigenous technologies and products developed by the Navy in collaboration with start-ups, MSMEs, and academia.

• The seminar will be held on October 4 and 5, 2023, in New Delhi. The theme of the seminar is ‘Swavlamban’, which means self-reliance in Hindi.
• The seminar is a follow-up of the first edition of Swavlamban, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July 2022.
• In that event, the Prime Minister launched 75 challenges for start-ups and MSMEs as part of the SPRINT initiative, which stands for Supporting Pole-Vaulting in R&D through Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), NIIO, and Technology Development Acceleration Cell (TDAC).
• Swavlamban-2023 will provide a platform to highlight these innovative and indigenous technologies and products being developed in collaboration with the Indian Navy and the iDEX initiative.
• The event will feature live demonstrations of select promising technologies, highlighting the Indian Navy’s commitment to innovation and indigenization in defence technology. The event will also include dedicated sessions on Innovation, Indigenisation, Armament, and Aviation.
