  • National:
    • The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), under the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has launched Phase II of the ‘Amazon Future Engineer Programme’ in 54 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) spread across Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana.

    • According to the 2023 Global Crypto Adoption Index by Chainalysis, India has topped the list among 154 nations. The index is designed to identify countries where the most people are putting the greatest share of their wealth into cryptocurrency.
    • Poonawalla Fincorp, a Cyrus Poonawalla group-promoted NBFC, has received Reserve Bank of India’s approval to issue a co-branded credit card with IndusInd Bank. The company plans to launch this credit card within three months.
    • The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) celebrated its 82nd Foundation Day on 26th September 2023. The celebration took place at various CSIR campuses across India.
    • The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has officially recognized Mithun as a food animal, effective from September 1, 2023. Mithun, scientifically known as Bos frontalis, is deeply intertwined with the indigenous communities, ecological balance, and local traditions of the northeastern states.
    • The Kerala government has decided to approach the Supreme Court against Governor Arif Mohammed Khan for his delay in signing eight bills that were passed by the state legislative assembly.
    • Amnesty International has stated that the Indian authorities are exploiting the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to target civil society groups. The FATF is a global body responsible for tackling terrorism financing and money laundering.
    • The UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) India, in collaboration with the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), unveiled the “India Ageing Report 2023” which provides critical insights into elderly care in India
  • Economy:
    • The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently released four consultation papers seeking public input on a range of issues, including mobile porting and in-building connectivity.
  • World:
    • Iran has successfully launched its third military satellite, the Noor 3, into orbit. The satellite was launched on September 27, 2023, using a three-stage Qasem rocket. The Noor 3 is an imaging satellite.
    • The 21st Arab Media Forum in Dubai unveiled a comprehensive guide to Generative AI in Media. This guide, titled ‘100 Practical Use Cases of Generative AI in Media’, was launched by the UAE Ministry of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, in collaboration with the Dubai Media Council.
    • Russia is formally seeking to rejoin the United Nations’ Human Rights Council. This comes nearly 18 months after it was suspended from the body following its invasion of Ukraine.
  • Sports:
    • India’s Naorem Roshibina Devi clinched a silver medal in the women’s 60 kg Wushu event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. In the final, she lost to China’s Wu Xiaowei 2-0, settling for the second spot on the podium.
    • India’s Badminton team indeed had an impressive victory over Brazil at the Badminton World Junior Championships in Spokane, United States.
