Published on September 04, 2023
Current Context: The Delhi Metro has launched special ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ for the visitors of the G20 Summit, which will be held in New Delhi from September 9 to 11, 2023. These cards are designed to facilitate seamless travel within the city and allow tourists to explore the prominent tourist places of the capital city.
Delhi Metro to start selling ‘Tourist Smart Cards’
  • The ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ are available in two categories: one-day validity and three-day validity cards, offering “unlimited rides” in the metro network.
  • The one-day validity card costs Rs 200 and the three-day validity card costs Rs 500, which includes a refundable security deposit of Rs 50. These cards can be purchased from 36 Metro stations through dedicated counters from September 4 to September 13, 2023.
  • The ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ grant unrestricted access to the entire metro network and no penalties or surcharges are imposed on them for issues such as entry/exit mismatches or overstay within the system.
  • The Delhi Metro is well connected to almost all the prominent tourist destinations in the city such as Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Akshardham Temple, Kalkaji Temple, etc.
  • To assist tourists in planning their journeys, the Delhi Metro Rail offers a Delhi Metro Rail app which provides comprehensive information on the metro network. Within the app, a dedicated ‘Tour Guide’ section showcases a list of all Metro stations and nearby tourist attractions.
