Current Context: The Griha Adhar Scheme is a scheme started by the government of Goa to provide financial assistance and support to housewives/homemakers from the middle, lower middle, and poor sections of society.

  • The objective of the scheme is to address the problem of spiralling prices and to help the housewives/homemakers maintain a reasonable standard of living for their families.
  • Under this scheme, a monthly disbursement of an amount as prescribed under the scheme will be provided every month directly to the hands of the housewives/homemakers. The current amount is  1,500/- per month.
  • The scheme has some eligibility criteria and exclusions, which you can check on the official website of the Department of Women & Child Development, Government of Goa. You can also apply for the scheme online through the Goa Online portal .
  • The scheme was launched by Goa CM Pramod Sawant on September 15, 2023, at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali. 
  • He also launched the Chavath-e-Bazaar, a digital initiative to empower Goan entrepreneurs and self-help groups by providing them an online platform to sell their products via Swiggy app.
