ARAI & IIT Guwahati Signs MoU to Set Up Digital Twin Center

Current Context: ARAI and IIT Guwahati have signed an MoU to set up a digital twin center for emerging automotive systems. This center will help the industry, especially MSMEs and startups, to develop and test new technologies using digital models of physical systems.

• A digital twin is a virtual representation of a real-world system that can be used for simulation, optimization, and prediction.
• The digital twin center will be established under the Capital Goods Scheme Phase II of the Ministry of Heavy Industries by ARAI in collaboration with Micelio Mobility Private Limited, an industry partner.
• The center will enable “Smart Advanced Manufacturing and Rapid Transformation Hub (SAMARTH) Udyog Bharat 4.0”, a program to promote Industry 4.0 in India.
• The center will offer various benefits such as reducing the overall development time, validating systems before prototyping, front-loading digitization in the development cycle, and creating experience centers for technology absorption, do-it-yourself, handling, and experimenting.
